Silat Wassel , with the support of the International Journalists’ Network (IJNet), organized two distinguished training sessions on May 17 and 24, 2024, under the title:
“Data Journalism: A Journey into Revealing Numbers and Information” This came as part of its efforts to enhance journalists’ skills in working with data and turning it into impactful journalistic stories.
The first session focused on the basics of data journalism and the most important digital tools that help journalists collect and analyze data,
while the second session explored open data sources and how to extract and use them to build data-driven stories.
Both sessions were delivered by trainer and journalist Maha Salah El-Din, Head of the Data and Fact-Checking Department at Al-Masry Al-Youm newspaper, who has extensive experience in data journalism and fact-checking.
This initiative comes within Silat Wassel’s efforts to support modern and in-depth journalism that values accuracy and reliability, and provides journalists with tools to produce professional content based on facts and figures.
