On June 27–28, 2024, Silat Wassel organized a specialized training titled:
“The Importance and Role of Media in Addressing Hate Speech and Promoting Positive Communication,”
as part of its ongoing efforts to foster responsible media discourse that supports diversity and human rights.
The training was delivered by journalist Nour Safieddine, a certified trainer and journalist specializing in media ethics and freedom of religion and belief. She works in media development and human rights across the Middle East and Southern Africa, particularly in Sudan.
The training brought together journalists from several Arab countries and addressed the challenges media face amid the rise of hate speech. The sessions also discussed practical tools to promote professional and human-centered discourse that upholds human rights and respects cultural and religious diversity.
This activity aligns with Silat Wassel’s vision of promoting a media environment that embraces pluralism and opposes discrimination, by empowering journalists professionally and developing their skills in addressing sensitive issues with responsibility and professionalism.
